Community is important to students attending the South Georgian Bay Campus of Georgian College. That’s why the Students’ Administrative Council is bringing The Jeff West Experience, a comedy hypnosis show, to the historic Gayety Theatre in downtown Collingwood on Saturday, March 28.

The show is an all-ages family event in support of The Crew, and Girlfriends, two after-school programs co-ordinated by the Environment Network in Collingwood. Funds raised will also benefit Georgian College’s Food Locker program, a food bank for college students that operates at all seven Georgian campuses.

“We have chosen these two programs as an opportunity to let young people know that Georgian College is supportive of young people in our community, and interested in the issues they face on a daily basis,” said SAC Campus Student Director Kevin Seaboyer. “These include environmental issues, peer issues, bullying, and other struggles that we know and understand, as many of us have faced them at one point in our own lives.”

General admission tickets are $20; student admission is $12. Tickets are available at the Environment Network Shoppe, 44 St Marie St. in Collingwood; the Gayety Theatre Box Office located at Big Screen FX in Collingwood and at (event ID 8920) or 1-866-943-8849.

Doors open at 7 p.m. for a pre-show performance by special guests, The Maple Tones. This group of local musicians will play a 40- minute set as guests arrive. The headline show begins at 8 p.m.
