A handful of lucky Georgian College students got to carry the 2010 Vancouver Olympic torch.

Georgian College is encouraging everyone to get excited about the upcoming XXII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia.

This Friday (Feb. 7), all campuses are inviting students, faculty and staff to wear Olympic colours to celebrate the start of the games. Sport red and white, colours from your country, flags, Olympic ring colours, or even Olympic gear.

At the Barrie Campus, get Olympic fever by watching the opening ceremonies with Growler at The Last Class (TLC) at 11 a.m. If you’re wearing your colours and fill out a ballot, you could win a Molson prize pack! In Owen Sound, catch the event in the cafeteria. In Orillia, watch the ceremonies at the Den and in the cafeteria.

After Friday, if you need an Olympic fix between meetings and classes, you can visit those same venues – TLC in Barrie, Owen Sound cafeteria, the Den in Orillia – to catch regular Olympic sporting events until Feb. 23. The Barrie Athletic Centre will also air the games and publish a medal count on their community board.

Throughout the games, share your Olympic stories and photos with Georgian via Twitter, Instagram or Facebook. Stay tuned for more information about Olympic activities at all Georgian College campuses.

Happy Olympic games to all!
