A hockey team poses on the ice.The men’s hockey team at the Owen Sound Campus stunned the Ontario College hockey world on March 5.

The team entered into the Grizzly Hockey Shootout Tournament in Alliston ranked 28/31 Ontario teams. With only 13 players on our roster, the team battled after an opening game loss to Fleming to then beat Georgian’s Orillia Campus (8-1), Humber Lakeshore (4-1), Trent University (6-3) and Fanshawe College in the championship game (3-0).

With this incredible performance, the team moved to 12/31 in Ontario, securing a spot in the final Challenge Cup Tournament hosted by St. Lawrence College in Cornwall, March 19 to 20.

The team demonstrated an unrelenting desire to win, amazing team and campus spirit, and remarkable sportsmanship. It was a day that each player was truly proud to be representing Georgian’s Owen Sound Campus.

The team includes students from Pre-health Sciences, Marine Technology – Navigation, Office Administration, HRAC, Power Engineering, Police Foundations and Business.

This is the first time the team has made it to a semi-final game, let alone qualified for the provincials.
