Teaching Excellence Awards

NOMINATION CRITERIA

The Georgian College community will be celebrating teaching excellence by presenting teaching excellence awards at its annual Teaching and Learning conference, which will be held Wednesday, May 1st, 2013.

These awards are designed to recognize people that have:
a) demonstrated a commitment to excellence in teaching practice or the exemplary support of teachers and teaching excellence; and
b) impacted the teaching community through sharing of practices

The commitment to excellence can be in any of the following areas of teaching practice:

  • Innovative Teaching Strategies
  • Education Technology
  • Active Learning
  • Diversity and Inclusion
  • Curriculum Innovation

All college professors, librarians, and counselors (full and part-time) are eligible for these awards.

SUBMISSION PROCESS

To nominate a colleague for an excellence award, complete the nomination letter form at the following link: Teaching Excellence Award Application

The nomination submission should include the following three sections. Those who nominate must be faculty, support staff or administrators from Georgian College.

A. Nominee information
B. Description of the practice and its evidence of the award criteria
C. Evidence of excellence and its impact on teaching and learning through quotes from 3 different people

Timelines
All nominations must be submitted to Janice Priest: Centre for Teaching and Learning by Friday April 5th, 2013.

Awards will be presented at the annual Focus on Teaching conference. All award winners must be available to receive their awards at the conference.
