Kathleen Mullett, a College and Career Preparation student in Barrie received the first bursary from the President’s ‘Pay it Forward’ endowment fund in December 2012.
This fund will be administered as an emergency fund for current students in financial difficulty due to unforeseen circumstances.
The purpose of this fund is to enable students in good academic standing to continue or complete their studies at Georgian College.
Applications will be distributed by the Financial Aid Officers at all campuses of Georgian College. The philosophy of this scholarship is that recipients will, when it’s possible, ‘pay it forward’ in the future by lending their own personal support to a Georgian student.
Access to this fund has enabled Kathleen to purchase technologies to assist with a hearing impairment.
Kathleen described her award as “an amazing opportunity” and said that she “is excited to now be able to actively participate in her studies.”
Kathleen entered the Pharmacy Technician program on Jan. 7, 2013.
