The Georgian Bay Club Foundation is keeping alive the excitement of the grand opening of Georgian College’s new campus with a generous donation.

The board of directors of the foundation announced Friday that it is donating $20,000 to support the John Di Poce South Georgian Bay Campus with funds raised from its eighth annual golf tournament.

“Our foundation is committed to supporting and enhancing the health and well-being of our community. We believe that post-secondary education is a vital part of that well-being and we are proud to support Georgian College in its efforts to offer more local opportunities,” said Richard Ross, President of the Georgian Bay Club Foundation.

Since the Foundation was established eight years ago, it has donated a total of $718,000 to local charities. The donations are made possible through the generosity of all those involved in the tournament.

“We are so thankful to the Georgian Bay Club Foundation for choosing to support our first permanent campus in the region. Our current and future students will benefit tremendously from the leadership that Richard and his fellow directors have shown,” said Barbara Weider, Chair of the John Di Poce South Georgian Bay Campus Campaign Cabinet.

This donation brings the total raised to $470,000 of Georgian’s $750,000 fundraising goal for the campus.
