Georgian College is hosting a new weekly series that will tap into your innate changemaker skills.
Weekly workshops entitled “Changemaker Wednesdays,” will begin Sept. 23 in the Centre for Social Entrepreneurship (CSE) at the Orillia Campus. Everyone is welcome to attend.
The CSE is working closely with students, faculty and community partners to inspire student innovators to make a positive social, cultural or environmental impact in their community, on campus and beyond, through social entrepreneurship.
Participants will learn about creating lasting and positive change through social entrepreneurship. The initial workshops will take participants through Social Entrepreneurship 101 where they will learn about social innovation and how social enterprise works.
Dominika Zapolnik-Farrelly, Social Entrepreneurship Liaison with the Centre for Social Entrepreneurship at Georgian, will facilitate the events and work with students to realize their potential and ability to create lasting and meaningful change through social entrepreneurship. “We have so many activities and events planned on Changemaker Wednesdays.” says Zapolnik-Farrelly.
“We’re even hosting a Changemaker Week at the Orillia Campus in October. There will be numerous opportunities to collaborate and learn from one another in our Creative Collisions space, pitch social enterprise ideas through various competitions, become a member of the Changemaker Club on campus, and even peruse a social enterprise mall on campus.”
Participants will also have access to the Entrepreneurship Learning Channel (ELC) which is offered on Tuesday nights through Georgian’s Henry Bernick Centre for Entrepreneurship. During Changemaker Wednesdays, participants can watch the recordings and discuss any challenging content.
Changemaker Wednesdays take place 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., room A205, Orillia Campus. There is no cost to participate. For more information or to register, visit GeorgianCollege.ca/changemaker. Be sure to inquire about changemaker activities taking place at other campus locations.
