Allow yourself to dream for a moment in a beautiful new vehicle while you visit the 2013 Georgian College Auto Show held May 31 to June 2 at the Barrie Campus. Georgian College and the Automotive Business School of Canada host the three-day event. In its 28th year, the show represents consumers’ first chance to view the 2014 models in a sales-free environment.
Want excitement? Buckle up for the ride of your life in the Pfaff Porsche Autocross Track! A donation to Camp Bucko puts you in the passenger seat of a Porsche with a professional race-car driver. The Pfaff Porsche Autocross Track runs on Saturday and Sunday.
Perhaps your tastes run to classic or customized automobiles? Check out our late model Show and Shine display on Saturday and our multi-generational Corvettes from the Wasaga Beach Corvette Club during the Show and Shine competition on Sunday. Or, maybe you prefer exotic vehicles? If so, Grand Touring Automobiles will be showcasing a Bentley, Aston Martin, Lamborghini and Rolls Royce in the auto show main tent all weekend.
Interested in test driving a Ford Escape? Don’t miss the Ford Drive One For Your Community event taking place on Friday and Saturday.
The popular auto show auction has been moved to Saturday this year. It will take place at 1 p.m. in the main tent. Items up for grabs include music lessons, restaurant gift certificates, Porsche model cars and much more. If you enjoy live music, local band JDM will perform on the main stage Sunday at noon. JDM’s set list covers everything from Gordon Lightfoot to Mumford and Sons.
Co-ordinating the show with an audience of over 15,000 people and managing vehicles worth millions of dollars is a big responsibility. Fortunately, the student leaders of this year’s show are an extremely bright and talented group. The Georgian Auto Show is the largest outdoor auto show and student lab in North America.
It is difficult to be unimpressed as the Barrie Campus is transformed by the village of tents, the eager student teams, the creation of the KidZone and the multitude of stunning motor vehicles. This auto show is sure to leave everyone who attends with a lasting impression.
Daily admission to the show is $7 or $15 for the weekend; children 12 and under are free. Show hours are noon to 6 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
