Therapy dogs cheer Barrie Campus students at end of semster.

Student Erin Rothwell enjoys a laugh with Sookie, one of several therapy dogs visiting the library at the Barrie Campus Dec. 3 to 5.

Student Erin Rothwell enjoys the calming influence of Sookie, one of several therapy dogs visiting the library at the Barrie Campus of Georgian College Dec. 3 to 5. Sookie is a four-year old Burnese Mountain Dog mix who has been working with the St. John’s Ambulance Therapy Dog team for two years.

As students enter their final weeks of the fall semester, they may be feeling homesick, overwhelmed by academic expectations and more. A visit from some friendly, furry friends such as Sookie and companions gives them the opportunity to de-stress.

The canine visits were organized by Georgian’s First Year Experience/First Generation team in partnership with the Orientation and Transition team.
