Taylor Scott, a Georgian Pre-Health student from Singhampton, wants to be a nurse. But her path wasn’t always so clear.
“I had no interest in science when I was in high school and didn’t take it past grade 10,” she says. “It was the College and Career Preparation program in Collingwood that showed me I could do it.”
Taylor excelled in her preparatory program, thanks to support from staff at the South Georgian Bay Campus. “They know your name, they work with you, and they’re goal oriented,” Taylor explains.
After getting into the Pre-Health program at the Barrie Campus, Taylor decided she would learn more about the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) program at Georgian’s Open House in November. During the event she filled out a ballot to win a prize pack full of school supplies and Georgian gear.
“I won!” she says. “It was a great surprise.”
Taylor hopes to start the nursing program in September 2015, but will enjoy her student experience in the meantime. “I love it here. It’s welcoming. People are helpful and they really care about student success.”
