In addition to being an assistant coach with the Grizzlies women’s volleyball team from 2002-14, Saxby has coached and served as an executive with the Barrie Elites volleyball program.

He also has experience preparing athletes both locally and nationally as a coach in pole vault, including at the junior national training camp.

“Reid has shown a dedication to athletics and the pursuit of excellence his entire career,” said Manager of Athletics Michele McConney. “We are thrilled to have Reid join us in this role and he will be an excellent leader for our men’s volleyball team.”

Saxby replaces John Moore who retired at the end of this past season after sixteen years with Georgian’s men’s volleyball program.

“I’m thrilled for the opportunity and can’t wait to get started,” said Saxby. “I’ve been passionate about volleyball and athletics and that continues through today.”

“It’s important we bring fun to our athletes because that’s what it is supposed to be.”

The Grizzlies men’s volleyball regular season gets underway on Oct. 23 when Georgian hosts the Trent Excalibur. Tryouts for this year’s team will take place for full-time students from Sept 14-15 at the Georgian Athletic Centre on the Barrie Campus.
