Oshawa, ON – The Georgian Grizzlies Men’s and Women’s Golf teams battled through some wet and windy conditions during first round play at the PING CCAA Golf National Championships on Wednesday at the Oshawa Golf and Curling Club in Oshawa, Ontario.
The Grizzlies Women’s team currently sit in third place at the tournament with a 178 score, 16 strokes behind the leading UBC Okanagan Heat. Georgian’s Avery White put up a round of 86, to sit tied for 9th place individually, while Alyssa DeFoe shot a 92 which puts her tied for 15th overall.
Katherine Gravel-Coursol from CéGEP Lionel-Groulx shot a course record 71, 1-under to lead the women’s individual standings.
On the Men’s side this year’s OCAA Champion Colton Kalkanis matched teammate James Skrypec with matching rounds of 76 good for a tie of 20th place, while fellow Grizzlies Nolan Knill, Clayton Connor and Jonah Tremback all posted rounds of 77, good for a tie of 28th.
Georgian’s Men’s team currently sits in 7th place ten strokes back from the leading Humber Hawks.
Kevin Piper representing the Grant MacEwan University Griffins shot a 2-under 70 to lead the Men’s side.
Play will resume tomorrow morning at 11am with the third and final round set for Friday.
