It was a good start for the Grizzlies in their first tournament of the season when they travelled to Kingston to participate in the St. Lawrence Vikings Invitational tournament this past weekend.
Georgian opened the tournament against a tough Mohawk Mountaineers team who gave the Grizzlies all they could handle in a 94-66 loss. Glody Madymba (Mississauga) led the Grizzlies with 13 points in the game.
With lots of tournament left, the Grizzlies regrouped in their second game on Saturday winning a tough game against the George Brown Huskies by a 76-72 score. Second year guard Jon Edwards (Mississauga) had a team high 17 points in the victory which earned the Grizzlies a spot in the consolation final.
Georgian made the most of the opportunity defeating the host St. Lawrence team 79-61 to claim third place at the tournament on Sunday. For his efforts throughout the tournament, fourth year guard Mark Brown was named a tournament all-star.
The Grizzlies continue their preparation for the OCAA regular season and will host the Redeemer Royals on Wednesday Oct. 8 at 8 p.m. at the Georgian Athletic Centre.
