Kingston, ON – In their final tune-up before the regular season gets underway the Grizzlies men’s basketball team put together a nice weekend at the St. Lawrence tournament in Kingston, ON.
In game one Friday night the Grizzlies came out of the gate strong and were in a 37-37 tie with the Mohawk Mountaineers at halftime, but Georgian ran out of gas being outscored 51-29 in the 2nd half and wound up losing 88-66. Stefan Rudic put up 17 points in just 13:45 minutes of play to lead the team. Game Stats
Georgian’s second game of the tournament on Saturday was against the Fleming Knights and may have been the game of the tournament.
The Grizzlies led 40-32 at the half before the Knights came roaring back putting up an impressive 27 points in the 3rd quarter.
The game came right down to the wire with Georgian’s Nolan Knill, who was fresh off competing in the Golf Nationals the previous four days, was sent to the line with the game in his hands.
With 0.3 seconds remaining on the clock, Knill hit two clutch free throws to send the game to overtime.
In overtime the Knights were able to pull away and earn a 99-95 victory. Game Stats
The Grizzlies rebounded from that lost and put together a solid 76-69 win over the host St. Lawrence Vikings. Tevin Goodridge had a team high 18 points, while Mark Brown (17), Ivan Ivic (15) and Adam Cadogan (12) all had double digits in points. Game Stats
The Grizzlies will now prepare for their 2012 Home Opener which takes place on Friday, November 2nd when they host Lampton.
