Golfer Matt Lemay has been named Georgian Grizzlies Athlete of the Week after putting together two impressive victories.
Lemay, a first year student in the Bachelor of Business in Golf Management program, won the first two OCAA golf events of the season.
This past Monday, the Waterloo native finished in a tie for first place at the Fleming College Invitational shooting a three-over 75. He then followed that performance with a second straight first place finish on Wednesday at the Durham College Open shooting a 74 and winning on a tiebreak.
Lemay and his teammates are preparing for the 2014 OCAA golf championships which get underway Sept. 29 through Oct. 1 hosted by Fleming College.
Also in consideration for this week’s award was men’s golfer Tyler Cameron (Sturgeon Falls) who finished in first place at the Fanshawe Invitational on Saturday. Men’s rugby player Anderson Do (Mississauga) finished as a runner-up for the award for the second week after scoring two tries and four converts in Georgian’s 34-18 win over Mohawk on Sunday.
