Windsor, ON – Freshman Colton Kalkanis fired an even-par 70 to pace the Georgian Grizzlies to a 13-over 293 in the opening round of the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Golf Championships at the Roseland Golf & Curling Club.
The Grizzlies enter tomorrow’s second round in a tie for third place, two shots behind first round leader Humber.
Kalkanis is in a three-way tie for the lead with Kurtis Lavery of St. Lawrence-Brockville and Alex Dumais from Humber. Teammate James Skrypec sits one shot back of leaders after shooting a 71. Jonah Tremback shot 75 and Nolan Knill and Clayton Connor carded a pair of 77’s.
The women’s golf team is in third place after shooting a team total of 188. Alyssa DeFoe finished with 88, while Avery White shot 100.
The 54-hole event wraps up on Wednesday.
