Kalkanis Named Grizzlies Athlete of the Week for Third Time

Barrie, ON – October 21st, 2013 – Men’s Golfer Colton Kalkanis has been named Georgian Grizzlies Athlete of the Week for the week ending October 20th.

Kalkanis, a native of Barrie became the first ever repeat winner of the PING Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association Men’s Golf Championship this past week. He won the title by an incredible ten strokes and set the record for the lowest three rounds in the tournaments history at 15-under par.

It is the third time the Golf Operations student has earned the Grizzlies weekly honour this season.

Also in consideration for this week’s award was Women’s Badminton player Emily Rosborough who had a solid effort at the Humber Open, Men’s Rugby player Chris Wood who had two tries in a playoff clinching victory against Mohawk and Women’s Volleyball player Natalie Buck who was influential in the Grizzlies second place finish at the ACAA Tip-Off Tournament in Nova Scotia this past weekend.
