March 06, 2015

The Georgian Grizzlies women’s indoor soccer team had a big day on Thursday, March 5, at the OCAA Regionals in Ancaster with a trip to the provincials on the line.

A good start was the key to the Grizzlies success and they found that in their opening game against the Durham Lords. Briahna Williams (Barrie) had the lone goal in the match to give the Grizzlies a 1-0 victory.

In their second match, the Grizzlies earned a valuable tie with the Redeemer Royals in a 1-1 game with Stephanie Harris (Bradford) scoring for Georgian. The Grizzlies wrapped up the tournament with a 1-0 loss to the Seneca Sting.

Despite the loss, the Grizzlies 1-1-1 record was good enough to earn them a berth in the OCAA Championship as they finished second in their pool.

The 2015 OCAA Indoor Soccer Championship takes place March 20-21 hosted by Redeemer University College in Ancaster.
