Grizzlies Volleyball Looking Strong

Georgian’s women’s volleyball team put together a very solid weekend. Friday night the Grizzlies hosted the Conestoga Condors in exhibition play and made it a clean sweep defeating the visitors 25-17, 25-16, and 25-16. Kelsey Buckley had a great night on offence scoring six kills while Allison Marshall had seven blocks to go with her three kills to help the Grizzlies to victory. The women’s team carried that momentum right into the weekend as the participated in the Niagara Invitational in Welland, ON finishing second to earn a silver medal for the tournament. Game Stats

Georgian opened the tournament with a 3-1 victory over the host Niagara Knights (25-14, 25-19, 26-28, 25-22) before dropping the 2nd match to the Humber Hawks 3-0 (25-14, 25-12, 25-15) but rebounded in their final round robin match defeating Canadore 3-0 (25-3, 25-15, 25-12) to finish 2nd in their pool.

They then defeated Fanshawe in the semi-finals 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-19) to earn a spot in the championship game but came up a bit short falling to Humber 3-0 (25-12, 25-16, 25-7).

Allison Marshall was named a tournament all-star for the Grizzlies, who will wrap up their exhibition schedule along with the men’s team when they travel to George Brown to take on the Huskies Wednesday night. Tournament Results

Georgian’s men’s volleyball team also did well earning a 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 15-14) win over the Conestoga Condors on Friday night in exhibition play. Graham Barnes put up an impressive five serving aces while Atley Stock led the team with six kills. Game Results
