Barrie, ON – January 27th, 2013 – The Georgian Grizzlies men’s volleyball team made short work of the visiting Cambrian Golden Shield on Sunday afternoon at the Georgian Athletic Centre with an impressive 3-0 victory.
After coming up short on Saturday against the Durham Lords in a 3-0 loss, the Grizzlies rebounded with one of their best performances of the OCAA season winning consecutive sets of 25-17, 25-18 and 25-14.
Georgian was able to control the game from beginning to end thanks to a solid team performance.
Lyndon Sonego continues to impress in his first season with the Grizzlies. The Barrie native had a team high 18 points including 10 kills and 7 serving aces.
Sophomore Darren Govan and veteran Andy Carriere had 8 kills each while Michael Vandinther led the team with 8 digs on the afternoon.
With the win the Grizzlies improve their OCAA record to 9-7 giving them a current hold on 5th place in the very competitive east division standings.
The Grizzlies will play their final home game of the OCAA regular season on Friday, February 1st when they host the George Brown Huskies with the women’s game at 6pm and the men’s game at 8pm.
