Grizzlies start second half strong

Barrie, ON – January 12th, 2013 – The Georgian Grizzlies women’s volleyball team opened up the second half of their OCAA season with an impressive 3-0 victory over the Loyalist Lancers Saturday afternoon at the Georgian Athletic Centre in Barrie.

Georgian looked strong from start to finish with solid serving and excellent team play. The Grizzlies were able to pull ahead early in each set and never look back gaining wins of 25-13, 25-15, and 25-18.

Natalie Buck (15 points) and Hannah Campbell (12 points) led the way in scoring for the Grizzlies but it was the team play that really stood out on the afternoon.

The Grizzlies were able to gain a real advantage on the scoreboard by outscoring the Lancers 13-3 in serving aces with Mackenzie Roy, Allison Marshall and Natalie Buck netting three each.

The win solidifies the Grizzlies in fourth place in the east division standings and they are now only two points back of 2nd place.

Georgian will return to action Sunday afternoon when they face Boreal at 12pm at the Georgian Athletic Centre.
