Grizzlies Rugby Season Ends with Loss to Seneca
November 05, 2012

North York, ON – The Georgian Grizzlies knew they had their work cut out for them having to travel to Seneca to face the Sting in their Men’s Rugby cross-over playoff game on Saturday afternoon.

Both teams came out with their best efforts in the first half with the Grizzlies trailing the Sting by just five points headed into the break.

“The first half our guys played as well as they have all season,” said Head Coach John Daggett. “Our guys came out and did everything they could to win.”

In the second half the young Georgian squad ran out of steam and the Sting took over finishing the game with a 50-7 victory. Despite the big score the game was played much tighter than the final score indicated. Grizzlies rookie Paul Marshall scored the only Try and Convert for Georgian in the game.

Looking back the Grizzlies have to be pleased with their first season back in OCAA Division I Rugby. The team finished 3rd in the West Division clinching a playoff berth and gained some valuable experience moving forward.
