Hamilton, ON – The Grizzlies Men’s Rugby Team got back to their winning ways Saturday afternoon with a big 31-7 over the Mohawk Mountaineers at the Mohawk Sports Complex in Hamilton.
The Grizzlies got the lead early and never looked back leading 19-0 at half. Leading the way for Georgian were Chris Wood, Robin Calamatta, Derek Trowell and Chuck Curran who each scored tries, while Steve Sasseville posted four converts and Jesse Twigg registered a penalty try.
Defensively the Grizzlies were solid only allowing one try which was scored by Richard Nelson and converted by Dylan Ritchie for Mohawk.
The win moves the Grizzlies record to 3-1-1 and clinches them a playoff berth. The team has only one round robin game remaining next weekend when they travel to Conestoga to take on the Condors at 12pm.
A win Saturday would guarantee the Grizzlies hosting a home playoff game at the Barrie Community Sports Complex.
