September 22, 2014

Competing in their first event of the 2014 Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) season, the Georgian Grizzlies men’s cross country team had a good showing, finishing in fifth place at the Fanshawe Invitational in London on Saturday.

Georgian’s team finished the eight-kilometre track with an average time of 31:15, just over a minute back of the top-placed team from Humber College.

Last year’s top runner from the Grizzlies, Ryan Fennell (Aurora), showed he will be a contender again this year finishing in tenth place, just a minute back of the top runner.

Georgian also had top 25 finishes from returnees Evan Lynch (Alliston) and Zach Buchan (Orillia), who will be counted on to help the Grizzlies get into medal contention this year.

The Grizzlies will travel to Kingston Saturday, Sept. 27 to compete in the St. Lawrence College Invitational.
