Grizzlies men’s volleyball finish second at Northern Cup
October 21, 2014

The Georgian Grizzlies men’s volleyball team had an impressive showing at the Northern Cup hosted by Cambrian College in Sudbury this past weekend.

After finishing the round robin with a two-two record the Grizzlies rebounded in the playoff round earning a big victory over the Cambrian alumni team who had previously defeated the Grizzlies in their round robin match.

The Grizzlies were down a set but rallied back taking the final two sets (25-18, 15-10) to earn a spot in the finals against the host team from Cambrian.

Georgian couldn’t find a way to solve the Golden Shield in the championship game. After taking the first set 28-26 from the home team, the Grizzlies ran out of gas as Cambrian took the title after set wins of 25-19 and 15-11.

The Grizzlies will take the confidence gained with a second place finish into their OCAA regular season home opener which takes place this Friday, Oct. 24 when they host the George Brown Huskies at 8 p.m. at the Georgian Athletic Centre.
