Grizzlies Men’s Cross Country Earns Third at Seneca

Georgian’s Men’s Cross Country Team finished 3rd at the Seneca Invitational on Friday

King City, ON – October 11th, 2013 – The Georgian Grizzlies Cross Country teams competed at the Seneca Invitational this past Friday, October 11th in King City, Ontario with the men’s team earning a third place finish.

The Georgian men’s team of Ryan Fennell (7th place), Evan Lynch (12th), Zach Buchan (13th), Chris Tomlinson (18th), were the Grizzlies top runners finishing the 8km track with an average time of 29:46. The Humber College team finished first while the team from Fleming College finished in second place.

Ryan Fennell had his best finish of the season in 7th spot with a time of 28:17, just two minutes behind the race winner Riley Hubbard-Olesky of Fleming.

On the women’s side, Georgian’s Carolyn Schaerer was the Grizzlies top runner finishing the 5km course in 24:44, good for 14th spot overall while Catherine Geurten finished four spots back in 18th.

The third place team finish was the Grizzlies best of the season and could not have come at a better time with the OCAA Championships taking place this coming Saturday, October 19th which will be hosted by Redeemer University College in Ancaster, Ontario.
