Grizzlies men’s basketball season comes to an end with loss to Lambton
March 07, 2015

For the second day in a row one bad quarter became too much for the Georgian Grizzlies to overcome at the 2015 Belairdirect OCAA Men’s Basketball Championship in Oshawa.

After a tight first quarter, the Grizzlies opponents the Lambton Lions turned up the pressure in the bronze quarter final match going on an 18-5 run in the second quarter to lead Georgian by 14 points at halftime.

The Grizzlies responded in the second half including a 14-0 run of their own and got as close as just a three-point deficit with a 1:14 left in the game.

Unfortunately that was as close as they could get as the Lions hit some clutch shots in the final seconds to knock off Georgian 82-71.

The loss ends a great season for the Grizzlies who made tremendous progress entering the championship as the second seed from the east division.

Despite the loss, CCAA All-Canadian Tequilan Zwarych (Whitby) had another monster game, scoring 30 points while adding 13 rebounds. He was named player of the game for Georgian.
