Vaughn, ON – For the first time in the history of the men’s indoor soccer program at Georgian College, the school has advanced to the OCAA Provincial Championships.
The Grizzlies went 3-1 in pool play at the regionals on Tuesday and finished in second place to clinch a spot in the Provincials to be held later this month.
Georgian defeated Fleming 2-0 in the first game of the day with Jon Cornelissen and Takuya Nomura providing the offence. Goaltender John Kwias picked up the shutout.
In game two, the Sheridan Bruins blanked the Grizzlies 6-0, but Georgian bounced back to edge Confederation College from Thunder Bay 1-0. Nomura’s second goal of the day was the difference, as Kwias picked up his second shutout.
Against Algoma in their final game, the Grizzlies routed the Thunderbirds 6-2. Cory Graves had two goals, while Brennan Reynolds, Frank D’Addurno, Mark Laskoski and Nomura added one each.
