Grizzlies have good showing at Centennial Open

January 13th, 2013 – Scarborough, ON – The Georgian Grizzlies are now in the stretch drive of their varsity badminton season after competing at the Centennial Open this past weekend in Scarborough.

The Grizzlies put together a strong showing at the event led by Sean Irving who made it all the way to the semi-finals on the men’s singles A side. He also earned a spot in the semi-finals of both the A men’s doubles with teammate Trevor Neville and the A mixed doubles with Carolyn Tubman.

Tubman had her own success in the tournament advancing to the semi-finals of the women’s B singles and the semi-final of women’s A doubles with Rebecca Trischler.

Trischler for her part also won the women’s B singles.

Many of the other Grizzlies turned in solid performances and got some great results.

Up next for the Grizzlies will be the Saints Badminton Open hosted by St. Clair College which runs from January 18th through 20th in Windsor.

Georgian will host the 2013 CCAA Badminton National Championship from February 28th through March 2nd at the Georgian Athletic Centre.
