Paris, ON – September 30th, 2013 – The Georgian Grizzlies Men’s and Women’s Varsity Golf teams got out to a great start at the 2013 OCAA Golf Championships at the Paris Grand Golf Club in Paris, Ontario on Monday.

Last year’s defending champion Colton Kalkanis of Barrie along with Georgian teammate Alex Wilson of Orangeville sit on top of the standings, tied for first with matching 1-under 72 rounds to open the tournament.

The Grizzlies are well represented on the leaderboard with Clayton Conor of Newmarket also in the top ten, tied for 8th spot.

On the women’s side Georgian’s Cory Pond (Simcoe) is in second place individually, three strokes off the pace set by Humber’s Adrienne D’Alessio. Teammate Chloe Wells (Mississauga) is also in contention sitting in 8th place, eight strokes back.

Both the men’s and women’s teams are sitting in second place in the team competitions after the first round and will be both looking to gain ground on day two of the Humber College team ahead of them.

Round two of the OCAA Golf Championships continues on Tuesday morning before wrapping up with the final round on Wednesday.
