Grizzlies earn much deserved win
January 26, 2013

Barrie, ON – January 25th, 2013 – After battling hard all season the Georgian Grizzlies women’s basketball team was able to get the monkey off their back Friday night at the Georgian College Athletic Centre defeating the Centennial Colts 61-59 to earn their first OCAA win of the season.

The Grizzlies were a determined group putting up points early on the Colts but Centennial stayed with Georgian step for step trialing by just four by quarter’s end.

In the second quarter the Grizzlies played arguably their best quarter of the season outscoring the Colts 16-3 to hold a 33-16 lead into the halftime break.

An early second half injury to Grizzlies guard Kara Faulkner put the Grizzles on their toes as Centennial climbed back into the game. Faulkner, the Minesing native and Georgian veteran did return later in the game.

The Grizzlies showed that this game was their night to shine and were able to hold on for the victory.

Grizzlies’ rookie and Barrie native Agnes Bartosik put a career high 20 points as the Grizzlies put up a season high 61 points collectively.

Georgian will be hitting the road next weekend for a game against Algonquin before wrapping up the season with home dates against Cambrian (Feb. 8th), George Brown (Feb. 13th) and Fleming (Feb. 16th)
