January 13, 2013

Barrie, ON – January 13th, 2013 – After a tough loss yesterday afternoon, the Georgian Grizzlies men’s volleyball team knew they had to put in a better effort and they responded with a 3-0 win over the Boreal Viperes Sunday at the Georgian Athletic Centre.

Despite the three set sweep, Boreal gave Georgian all they could handle pushing them to sets of 25-19, 25-19 and a very tight 25-23 third win.

Georgian’s Andy Carriere had a tremendous game leading the team in scoring with 14 points (12 kills, 1 serving ace, 1 stuff block) and also had 7 digs on the afternoon.

Jason Grimm (12 points) and Lyndon Sonego (11 points) rounded out the Grizzlies top scorers on Sunday.

The Grizzlies split their record on the weekend after falling to Loyalist on Saturday and now have a 7-5 record on the season.

Georgian will hit the road next weekend for big games against Fleming and Trent before returning home for a pair of games on January 26th and 27th against Durham and Cambrian.
