Grizzlies can’t beat Sting
December 06, 2012

Barrie, ON – December 5th, 2012 – The Georgian Grizzlies women’s basketball team put together arguably their best effort of the season but came up short in the end falling 61-51 to the Seneca Sting Wednesday night at the Georgian Athletic and Fitness Centre in Barrie.

Both teams played cautious to start the game and were feeling out their opponents, leading to a 13-13 tie after one quarter.

The Grizzlies matched everything the Sting threw at them in the 2nd quarter with both teams going shot for shot with each other, leaving nothing solved in the first half with a 24-24 tie score at the break.

Coming out in the third quarter the Sting were able to get ahead outscoring the Grizzlies 16-9 which was ultimately the end for Georgian.

Kimberly Solorzano was honored before the game as she was playing her final game with the team. The three year veteran had 7 points in her swan song with the Grizzlies.

Georgian’s Kara Faulkner led the team with 11 points on the night in just over 31 minutes.

First year guard, Daniellia Myers led the Sting in scoring with 13 points.

The Grizzlies head into the holiday break and will return to action on January 4th through 6th when they participate in the St. Lawrence College Invitational.
