Barrie, ON – February 10th, 2013 – The Georgian Grizzlies men’s basketball team came up with a big effort to snap a three game losing streak at the Georgian Athletic Centre Sunday afternoon with an 89-65 win over the Cambrian Golden Shield.
The Grizzlies came out scoring early and often, outmatching the visitors from Sudbury pulling away for a big win.
Putting up quarters of 27-11 and 26-16 to start, the Grizzlies put the game into cruise control in the second half and held onto their big lead.
The great team effort saw six different Grizzlies hit double digits in points and every player earning at least a point on the afternoon. Third year guard Tevin Goodridge led the way 16 points while Alex Fields had a strong game going 6-for-8 shooting with 14 points and setting the pace for his teammates.
Despite his team’s loss, Cambrian’s Byron Wabano had a solid game leading his team with 24 points.
The Grizzlies have two games remaining in their OCAA season both which will be played at home when they face the George Brown Huskies Wednesday (Feb. 13) and the Fleming Knights on Saturday (Feb. 16).
