Sault Ste. Marie, ON – Georgian’s men’s and women’s cross country teams wrapped up their season this past weekend at the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Cross Country Championship hosted by Algoma University at the Hiawatha Highlands Conservation Area in Sault Ste. Marie, ON.
Richelle Moore of St. Lawrence-Kingston won the women’s 5km while Clint Smith of Fanshawe won the men’s 8 km race.
Humber successfully defended their women’s title winning for the 2nd straight year while the men’s team title went to Fanshawe who have now won the championship for the 4th straight year.
Georgian finished in 11th place as a team on the women’s side with Carolyn Schaerer finishing in a time of 21:20.6 good for 38th place to lead the way for the Grizzlies. Behind her were Sarah Bowhey (21:27.4) in 39th place, Maggie Watson (22:47.7) in 48th place and Justine Rydall (23:03.3) in 50th place to round out the women’s side.
The men’s team put together a 14th place finish with Chris Tomlinson finishing the 8km in 30:22.7 which put him in 56th place. He was followed by Judah Garland (31:41.0) in 73rd, Brandon Parker (32:42.2) in 78th, Evan Porter (35:14.3) in 90th and Ryan Chan (39.46.8) in the 97th spot.
