Big effort leads to big win for Grizzlies basketball

Barrie, ON – November 19th, 2013 – The Georgian Grizzlies men’s basketball team defended their home court in style Sunday afternoon at the Georgian College Athletic in Barrie against the Canadore Panthers.

The Grizzlies were able to get up early and played a solid first half which saw them take a 37-27 lead into halftime.

Georgian weren’t satisfied with the ten point cushion and came out scoring in the second half eventually earning their biggest lead of the game by 25 points late in the third quarter. The Grizzlies never looked back cruising to a 79-65 victory.

Justin Mitchell (Newmarket) had a terrific game scoring 22 points including 6 three pointers to lead the team to their second straight win.

Freshman Teq Zwarych (Whitby) continues to impress as he had a career high 20 rebounds along with 7 points and 3 blocks in just under thirty minutes of play.

With a 4-2 record on the season the Grizzlies find themselves in a tie for 4th place in the OCAA east division standings with the Seneca Sting who Georgian will face in their next game Tuesday night in North York.

The Grizzlies will return home when they host the Loyalist Lancers next Friday night at 8pm at the Georgian Athletic Centre.
