Potential Georgian students speak to instructors from the college’s Engineering Technology programs

On Oct. 23, the Barrie Molson Centre was bustling with local manufacturers, potential tradespeople, and prospective Georgian College students.

The Train in Trades (TNT) Expo provided people interested in rewarding careers in the skilled trades with an opportunity to ask questions, get information about educational opportunities, learn about available jobs, and connect with potential employers.

About 2,500 attendees, including many high school students, spoke to 43 different exhibitors, including representatives from several of Georgian College’s engineering technology programs.

The afternoon event also featured keynote speaker Ernie Eves, former Premier of Ontario, who spoke about the importance of promoting the skilled trades.

Led by Mayor Jeff Lehmann and MPP Rod Jackson in partnership with Georgian, TNT aims to raise awareness about local job opportunities in the skilled trades. To learn more about TNT or about working in local trades, watch this documentary or visit www.trainintrades.com
