Celebrating 50 years of growth at Georgian

Celebrating 50 years of student success at Georgian College

2017 marks the 50th anniversary of Georgian College and the Ontario public college sector, and we’ve come a long way since 1967!

Over the years much has changed, but our priority has always remained the same – our students. Our vision is to accelerate success through exceptional teaching, learning, innovation and partnerships.

Thanks to the commitment and creativity of our faculty and staff, as well as the support of employers, donors and government, we’re trailblazers in areas like co-operative education, entrepreneurship, social innovation and environmental sustainability.

Our mission is to inspire innovation, transform lives and connect communities through the power of education. We live this mission every day and you can find out how by viewing videos that capture the larger Georgian story and reading the stories of our successful alumni. I know you’ll share our sense of pride in all our alumni and the meaningful difference they’re making in the workplace, their community and the world.

I also encourage you to look through the 50 years at Georgian timeline, and mark your calendar for one of many events celebrating the college’s golden anniversary. You won’t want to miss our birthday bash on Thursday, Oct. 5 – exactly 50 years to the day the college officially opened for students! You’ll want to be sure to check back with us soon to see which Canadian icon and hero Georgian will be hosting at the 2017 President’s Thought Leadership Speaker Series.

You can get involved by taking part in our Fab 50 Challenge and time capsule project. And don’t forget to celebrate with us on social media all year – including Twitter, Facebook and Instagram – using the hashtag #GC50.

I look forward to seeing you all soon.

In celebration,
MaryLynn
