Course description

In this course, students are introduced to the legal concepts, framework, structure, procedures, and implementation of Health and Safety in the Workplace. This includes OHS laws, due diligence and hazard recognition. Students examine the lead role Human Resources plays in managing the expanding role of OHS within the organization. The structure of this course is designed to give the HR student: understanding of OHS legislation, the ability to control workplace hazards and to assess and evaluate safety improvement programs.

Students registering for credit courses for the first time must declare a program at the point of registration. Declaring a program does not necessarily mean students must complete a program, individual courses may be taken for skill improvement and upgrading.
