Course description

Students examine the classification of highways with an emphasis on function. Topics studied include horizontal and vertical alignments including spiral curves and and super elevation, highway safety, including calculation of barrier length of need, pavement structure, highway aesthetics, intersections, channelization and roundabouts, acceleration and deceleration lanes, truck climbing and passing lanes, and highway terminology.

Students registering for credit courses for the first time must declare a program at the point of registration. Declaring a program does not necessarily mean students must complete a program, individual courses may be taken for skill improvement and upgrading.
